Wellness Week Sept 28-Oct 3

ALL WEEK
Gym Class Heroes Challenge:
Attend group fitness classes at the Andreasen Center all week for your chance to win awesome prizes like personal training packages, massage gift certificates and fitness assessments. Each class attended will count as one entry in prize drawings. Black light classes count too! And don’t miss classes with Gabi Melgar-Barbosa! Our favorite instructor will be here only for Wellness Week. You can in a class up to 48 hours in advance.

SUNDAY
Bradley Family Harvest Run

Andreasen Center for Wellness, 9 a.m.
This 5K Run/Walk is designed to showcase the natural beauty of our °®¶¹´«Ã½ campus and arboretum. Students, alumni, community, and faculty/staff are all welcome! The race will be chip-timed. On-site registration and check in begin at 8 a.m. Visit the race website to learn more or register. Completing the race counts towards employee wellness requirements. 

°®¶¹´«Ã½ Community Health and Wellness Expo
Andreasen Center for Wellness Lobby, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
Enjoy time with a trained therapy dog, a chair massage or a delicious treat from BOBA. Students in attendance can enter to win an Apple Watch or FitBit. Cocurricular credit provided. 

Healthy Cooking Demo
Beijing Classroom, Andreasen Center for Wellness, 11 a.m.
Enjoy delicious samples of nutritious recipes. No sign-up required. Cocurricular credit and employee wellness requirement credit provided.

Self-Defense Class
Bridgetown Studio, Andreasen Center for Wellness, 2 p.m. & 3:30 p.m.
Learn life-saving self-defense skills. This event is open to the community, and spots are limited. Please note that the same class will be held twice. Participants may only sign up for one session.  Cocurricular credit and employee wellness requirement credit provided.

DIY Fruit Salad Pop-Up w/ SILA

Black Light Cardio Beats w/ Gabi
Bridgetown Studio, Andreasen Center for Wellness, 8 p.m.
Experience a cardio workout like never before! Don't forget to wear your favorite white and neon exercise attire. Attendance counts toward Gym Class Heroes Challenge. To attend, you must have your Andreasen Center membership activated and register for class in advance. Classes count towards employee wellness requirements. 

TUESDAY
Open Air Movement Therapy

In front of the Campus Center, 11:30 a.m.
Learn relaxing movements that improve balance, flexibility and strength while enjoying the fresh air. No sign-up required. Cocurricular credit provided.

Gymnics Open Gym
Beaty Gym, 6–7:30 p.m.
Practice an acrobatic skill or learn something new. The gymnastics gym is located on the top floor of Beaty Gym (next to Johnson Gym).

Doodle Destresser w/ De Wilkens of SoDoodleDe
Beijing Classroom, Andreasen Center for Wellness, 7:30 p.m.
Learn how to use the simple act of doodling to practice creative self-care and relaxation. Limited space available. No sign up required. Cocurricular credit provided.

WEDNESDAY
Taste of Indonesia Cooking Demo

Beijing Classroom, Andreasen Center for Wellness, 5 p.m.
Enjoy this delicious food demonstration presented by AU Dietetic interns. Limited space available. Registration is required. . Cocurricular credit provided.

Black Light Advanced Bungee w/Gabi
Bridgetown Studio, Andreasen Center for Wellness, 8 p.m.
This class is only for participants who have been cleared to attend an advanced bungee class. Experience a bungee workout like never before! Don't forget to wear your favorite white and neon exercise attire. Attendance counts toward Gym Class Heroes Challenge. To attend, you must have your Andreasen Center membership activated and register for class in advance. Classes count towards employee wellness requirements. 

FRIDAY
Lunch and Learn—Chili Cook Off!

Beijing Classroom, Andreasen Center for Wellness, 12:30 p.m.
Put that tried-and-true family chili recipe to the test, or just come and enjoy a delicious, free lunch and vote for your favorite. The 1st place winner will receive a brand new dual-sided slow cooker! Chili toppings and corn bread will be provided. Prizes will be given for the top three winners. Space is limited. . Cocurricular credit and employee wellness requirement credit provided.

ACW Indoor Triathlon - Everyone

Sunday, Feb 22, 9 a.m.
Swim, bike and run to complete the first ever Andreasen Indoor Triathlon! Not sure you can tackle all three challenges? No problem! Compete with a team of 2-3 individuals. All racers will receive a t-shirt and participation medal, with top finishers receiving special awards. Visit the Andreasen Center website to learn more! *Wellness Requirement Menu item.

Practice sleep-promoting habits to receive a sleep-themed goodie bag and be entered to win a Purple Pillow.

Self Defense Class - Everyone

Sunday, Sept 28, 2 & 3:30 p.m.
Join us to learn life-saving self defense skills and get a great workout! Physical Therapist and self-defense expert, Aristede Dukes, will instruct participants in Krav Maga style techniques that can be utilized effectively in a life-or-death situation. Space is limited. Please note this is the same class twice. Participants may sign up for one session only. Duplicate entries will be canceled. (See Wellness Week announcement above for registration).

SUMMER WELLNESS EVENTS

In a Pickle 5K Run and Walk: Date TBD - Join us for the 5th Annual In a Pickle 5K Run and Walk. Pre-registration is available at runsignup.com, with limited day-of registration also available. All participants who register in advance will receive a finisher’s medal and shirt.

Gardening Get-Together: Dates TBD - Join the AU Wellness Ambassadors as we beautify an outdoor area on campus. The location is yet to be determined, but if you’re interested in joining, add your name to the list here to receive updates. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

Pickleball Tournament: Date TBD - Test your skills while supporting our local tennis programs. Learn more or register here.

Rotary Golf Tournament: Date TBD - Support the important community services provided by our local Rotary Club and enjoy 18 holes with a cart, at Indian Lake Hills, a buffet lunch, snacks/waters, prizes and more. Learn more here. To register, email wellness@andrews.edu.

Andreasen Center Classes: While our summer schedule is a bit lighter, there are still great opportunities for social fitness at the ACW. If “big” classes scare you, this is quieter time of year is perfect to try something new, like Spin, Kickboxing, Soar Bungee Fitness and more.
