Thank you to everyone who participated in the first round of QotW!

For those who are reading this for the first time, the question of last week was:
If there was one thing that you could make the AU administration change now for the better, what issue or concern should be addressed ASAP and why?

While there were no common factors among the responses, some priorities might be reflecting long-overdue issues. One of them came from Aaron Norman (sophomore, psychology), who talked about the always-increasing prices at the Gazebo and the Terrace Cafe. He mentions, “[w]ith the prices in the cafeteria rising, along with the Gazebo, it makes more sense to eat out or buy your own food, rather than to eat ready-made Cafe meals. However, most of us have no time to cook or anything, so it's more convenient to eat in the cafeteria.”

The main request, as he addressed it in his response, was whether °®¶¹´«Ã½ could reevaluate the prices and the food service, as the recently implemented changes (such as different tiers of meal plans) do not seem to be addressing the inaccessibility of food on campus. The Student Movement has already covered this in the past, but it might be time we talk about this again.

Another issue was brought up by Joel Pelletier (senior, English, religion, and education), which was related to the °®¶¹´«Ã½ website. Sure enough, if you visit it enough during the year, you might have already noticed that it looks quite old. “The website,” he claims, “is 20 years outdated.” The website might be serving its basic purposes overall, but maintenance issues in recent years could suggest that the website needs some help. On another note, he also requested that the Spring 2025 Dean’s List be published.

A third issue, brought up by a senior in political science, was about education and awareness of Adventist beliefs on campus. This student mentioned that °®¶¹´«Ã½ should “provide more opportunities for students to hear important Adventist truths: The Sanctuary, Righteousness by Faith, the Second Coming, etc.” As you might know, not everyone needs to be Adventist to come to the university.

We want to hear all your thoughts, so please consider participating in the next question of the week, this time with some extra specificity:

It has been almost two years since the Office of Diversity and Inclusion was closed, and instead, an 'Assistant to the President for Mission and Culture' has been appointed. Do you believe this decision has changed how the °®¶¹´«Ã½ community defines and supports diversity, and if so, how?

Remember that you can all send your answers to our . Feel free to share it with your friends and other members of the °®¶¹´«Ã½ community. We are looking forward to your insights!
